Broken Beach- An Alluringly Beautiful Beach Of Nusa Penida
A highlight of Nusa Penida Island is Broken Beach. It is called as a Broken Beach because of an arch-shaped broken rock formation which seems like a Broken Arch made of rocks. The Beach lies on the West Coast of Nusa Penida. Amidst the Turquoise blue waters, rocks and the cliffs, The Arch like Rock Formation is superb! For a Photo-shoot session. People generally rent a scooter to reach this Beach. It takes around 2 hours to reach via motorbike from Nusa Penida.
The Breathtaking beauty of the beach seems more beautiful with some light refreshments. You can enjoy drinks and snacks on the beach. Some vendors even sell Beer near the beach. The Beach stays open from 6.00 A.M to 8.00 A.M which is the best time to enjoy and have fun there but it stays open from 6.00 A.M to 6.30 P.M. It consumes around 1 to 2 hours to visit the Beach. The roads to the Beach are in terrible condition and are one way and the cliffs are also very unsafe so it is advisable to stay careful while reaching the round rock.
Broken Beach which is known as “ Pantai Pasih Uug” locally is one of the best picturesque views of Nusa Penida. It offers a Panoramic scene and tranquility which is just perfect. The water seems to get caught in between the round rock which looks fabulous. The diameter of the big pond is 98 meters. The Arch seems like a mesmerizing tunnel. The best months to visit this beach is after the march.
The beach is one of the best works of natural architecture. There is a historical story behind the formation of the beach. The story began when the people here find a cow, then they decided to slaughter and cook it. After they cooked and ate it a small lad came and asked for the cattle. But they said they don’t know about it. Then the child challenged these people to take out the stick from the ground that he stuck inside to unveil the truth. No one was able to do it and the child himself took that stick out and immediately an earthquake caused the land to collapse and no one survived.
The story sounds unbelievable but many locals residing there speak about it and have faith in it. And some residents assigned to provide food for the people who got their village and house in the sea. These survivors are considered as witnesses of this past incident which they passed from one generation to another.
To get on the Beach from Nusa Island cruise to the other side. The speed boat charges around 175000 IDR. Also, there is an entrance fee of 5000 IDR and a parking fee of 5000 IDR. Another option is Semabu Hills Hotel which is a nice place to stay at Nusa Island near the beach.
