Soi Cowboy Street is a famous nightlife and entertainment spot in Bangkok near a Terminal 21 mall at the Sukhumvit Road. The place has got its name from the Afro-American man who opened the very first bar on the street. The man always used to wear a cowboy hat and hence the place got its name as the Cowboy street.
Bangkok is known for its nightlife and the Soi Cowboy Street is a major part of that nightlife. The street is decorated in neon lights and has a carnival-like vibe to it. There are almost 20 go-go bars in a row on this street. This is a red-light area of Bangkok.
The place is quite happening as you can hear the loud music playing almost past midnight with not so expensive alcohol being served all around. The place is full of Thai dancers and ladyboys. You can have a drink in almost 100 to 180 THB here, which is quite a fair amount.
Some of the best bars here are Déjà vu- A-Go-Go which is a fun place with a centre stage with poles, where the pole dancers perform. The staff is also friendly and educated and can converse in English.
Another place is Baccara, the last in the row but the most famous one. You might have difficulty to find a seat here because the place is quite crowded. This place has got a nice interior and is cleaner than the rest with nice sitting arrangements.
Shark is a bar with a classic setting, a rotating stage, and a transparent roof. The place offers Happy Hours from 4.30 pm to 8.00 pm where you can get a drink as cheap as 80 THB.
Tilac Bar is one of the latest opened bars on the street. It is more spacious with six stages distributed inside the place and 15-20 dancers performing. The place has also installed big screens for sports screening. You can order a beer in 120 THB here.
Reaching this place is not very difficult. Because of its popularity, any tuk-tuk driver will take you here. You can also use Sky Train to reach here. The BTS station for this place is Asoke Station. Bangkok's subway system called MRT is also a good way to reach. You need to get off to Sukhumvit Station from where you can walk till the street.
The place has the best bars in the town and you must visit it if you want to enjoy the nightlife of Bangkok. Although, if you're going with your family, this isn't the best place to visit. You also need to be careful with the staff who might ask you to buy a drink or something. The staff is otherwise friendly, but a little cautiousness never hurts anybody.
