Known for its prim tea plantations, Coonoor is situated in the Nilgiri hills. The best time to go for a calm holiday is in its wintry months- October to March. You can travel to Coonoor through railways to Mettupalayam or fly to Coimbatore and drive towards the town where it is at a distance of 32 km from Mettupalayam, 70.4 km from Coimbatore and 19 km away from Ooty.
It is the perfect starting point for a great trekking excursion leading to Lamb’s Rock, a famous tourist spot. There is local transport easily available like taxis, autos and most importantly, the Toy Train from Mettupalyam to Ooty and Coonoor both.
