Charming every individual with its austere beauty, Madikeri will never cease to impress you with its wild essence of spices. Within the thick dense rainforests and the hilly terrains, the nature walks could be the perfect way to forget all your worries and just enjoy the serenity. The people of Madikeri called the Kodavas, celebrate an important festival known as Kailpodh, the festival of arms. They are in their traditional costumes and they have a function to worship the ancestral weapons that they have maintained for their lifetime. There are other two chief festivals of Madikeri is Kaveri Shankramma and a huge harvest festival known as Puttari.

• By road, Madikeri has easy connections with all cities and towns like Bangalore, Mysore, Kannur etc. • There is no railway station at Madikeri but the closest railway stations are: o Subrahmanya Road (SBHR, Subrahmanya Road, Karnataka, 39 km away. o Yedamangala (YDM, Yedamangala, Karnataka, 46 km away. • You can get a flight to Bajpe Airport (IXE, Mangalore or Mysore Airport, Mysore and travel by road to Madikeri. • There are cabs/ auto-rickshaws that will take you to all tourist spots. A major tourist spot is 'Raja's seat' which has a jaw-dropping view of the sun rising and sipping behind the astounding mountains. In the olden times, this place was visited by kings and queens in their leisure times. You can witness the miraculous beauty of nature from this garden. You will find yourself in the midst of verdant posies and breathe the virtuous fragrance in the air. Located 8 km from Madikeri, Abbey falls is an envelope of greenery skirting a cascade of waterfalls and opposite to it, is a hanging bridge. The visiting time for this attraction is from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. A Tibetan settlement in a town called Bylakuppe is 34 km away from Madikeri and there lies a famous monastery (Namdroling monastery that is locally known as the Golden Temple. Entrance is free of cost and people can commute to this temple by rickshaws or buses if they cannot travel by car. There are plenty of souvenir stores and Tibetan restaurants outside the monastery where you can enjoy the exceptional and relishing Tibetan traditions. There are several temples and other holy dwellings that are highly visited in Madikeri like Omkareshwara temple, Anjaneya temple, Sri Kanchi Kamakshi temple, St. Michael’s Church etc. The Madikeri Fort built by Mudduraja in the second half of the 17th century is also worth a visit.
