A densely forested region with the elaborate gifts of nature, Idukki is a district in the state of Kerala present in the south of India. The Idukki dam located there is famous for its lovely rides in backwaters of the lake. Idukki serves as the starting point to a lot of rivers and is also the home of a number of Malayali tribes. For a soothing holiday and an invigorating adventure, the best season to visit Idukki is between October and May.
If you want to arrive by rail, you must take a train to Ettumanur Railway Station (Kottayam which is the nearest train station. To arrive by air, the closest airport is the Cochin International Airport which is 100 m away. From these places, you must take a bus or a cab to Idukki. Idukki, the powerhouse of Kerala provides 66% of the state's power consumption because of the Idukki dam which Asia's biggest arch dam. Near the Idukki Dam, there is the renowned Kalvari Mount Viewpoint that offers a charming view of Idukki Reservoir. There is a marvellous tourist place at Idukki called the Hill-view Park where you can witness the majestic Idukki and Cheruthoni Dams. The park is graced with gorgeous flowers and other flora. It also has a pond where you can pedal-boat while watching the sunset in awe. There is a watchtower that where you can enjoy the wondrous landscape that this destination offers. Near Idukki, is a place called Munnar which withholds the famous Anamudi mountain range, the biggest in South India that is worth a visit.
