The name originating from a tributary of the River Cauvery in southern India, Kabini supports a huge reservoir with plenty of tourist attractions and a forest reserve. The Kabini Forest Reserve is a part of the Nagarhole Forest. You can visit Kabini at any time of the year as the weather is pleasant but November to May could be the best time.
To reach Kabini by air, you must take a flight to Bangalore as it has the closest airport i.e. Kempegowda International Airport. To reach by rail, you must travel to Kabini from the closest railway station i.e. Mysore Railway Station. From these places, there are several bus and cab services available to Kabini as it is well connected by road. The Kabini Dam is one of the main features of this region and it forms a huge lake here called the Mastigudi Lake. This dam separates Nagarahole Nature Reserve from the Bandipur reserve. Kabini is also very famous for its Jungle Safari that includes a good number of species of different fauna. Tigers, Elephants, Chitals, Sambar, Barking Deer, and Spotted Deer are some of the many animals you can find in the Safari.
